Funeral Cheesecake
Chloe was shocked to see the plate that had born the cherry-topped cheesecake was now empty.
Nooo!
That cheesecake was the only good part of any funeral in the Gray family. It couldn’t be gone already; she’d not had a chance to get a piece! She flung a hate-filled glare at the crumbs strewn carelessly across the plate and sticking to the viscous drips of cherry topping.
It was like a dessert crime scene, all of her hopes murdered and left on cruel display.
Maybe Aunt Margaret had saved her a piece in the fridge? But no, when she pulled the door open, Chloe found only half-dead two-liter bottles of generic soda. She shut the fridge with a resigned sigh.
There would be no cherry cheesecake for Chloe at her own husband’s funeral. And nothing that she could do would ever change that.
