A Week of Genre, Tropes, and Editing
Worldbuilding within a genre — or two or three or six, if you’re blending — is one of those topics I never get tired of discussing. Like the movie Clue or the Ann books, it’s both interesting and entertaining.
I had a lot of fun going through what tropes are. Then, I tore it all apart and illustrated the key principles to consider when you blend genres, how to make certain you’re doing it well, and what it looks like when blending fails.
Finally, for yesterday’s Quick Six, I pulled out my Story Engine booster decks for an inspirational blend of dystopian fairy tale prompts!
